Martin Neck reset continued
While waiting for the boiler to heat up, the rest of the frets are removed and the fingerboard's tongue is heated up with a special heating pad to loosen its glue bond.

The frets are heated with the aid of a soldering iron. This helps to loosen the fret from the fingerboard by breaking any glue bonds or other agents like wood or body oils that may be in the fret slot. This allows the removal of the frets without harming the fingerboard. The last few frets are left in to help transfer the heat of the heating element to the fingerboard for loosening of the tongue.

Once the tongue is loose, the final frets are removed.
